The Questions Your Customers Ask AI, and How to Be the Answer
Customers ask AI assistants full questions, not keywords. Here are the common question shapes, and how to answer each one on your own website.
The short answer
People ask AI assistants full questions: who is good for this, how much does it cost, how long does it take, is it right for me. Collect the questions your customers already ask you, group them by shape, and answer each one on your site in a short, direct paragraph. Put the answer first, then the details.
Search used to be keywords: "plumber Miami". Questions to AI assistants are longer and more personal: "Who can fix a leaking water heater in Miami today, and roughly what will it cost?" The answer AI gives is built from pages that answer that kind of question clearly.
The five question shapes
Almost every customer question fits one of these:
- Who: "Who is a good kids' dentist near Coral Gables?"
- Cost: "How much does a water heater replacement cost?"
- Time: "How long does Invisalign take for adults?"
- Fit: "Is laser hair removal safe for dark skin?"
- Next step: "Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist?"
Where to find your customers' real questions
You already have them. Look at:
- The questions your front desk answers on the phone every week.
- Emails and messages from new customers.
- Your reviews: what did people worry about before they came?
- The "people also ask" style questions that show up when you search your own services.
Write them down in the customer's words, not yours.
How to answer so AI can use it
- Answer first. Start with one or two sentences that answer the question directly. Details come after.
- One question, one place. Give important questions their own heading, or their own page if the answer is long.
- Use real numbers when you can. "Most cases take 12 to 18 months" is more useful than "it depends".
- Say who it is for, and who it is not for. Honest limits make the rest of the page more believable.
- Keep it current. Prices and processes change. Date your pages and update them.
A page that answers one question well is worth more than a page that mentions twenty questions.
Start small
Pick the five questions you hear most often this month. Write a short, direct answer to each and add them to your site. Next month, check whether AI answers about your business have changed, and pick the next five.
Questions and answers
Should every question get its own page?
Not always. Short answers can live together on one questions page. Give a question its own page when the answer needs more than a few paragraphs, like a full guide to a treatment or service.
Is it okay to give price ranges?
Yes. A clear range with what changes the price helps customers and gives AI a concrete fact to repeat. Update it when your prices change.
